Make your own images or borrow them from elsewhere. You can use them in any game you wish to play or with any race you create.
For bitmaps, we recommend you save in 24 bit color. Stars! Supernova will convert the image to 24 bit, regardless.
Almost every art tool edits and saves images in bitmap format.
For each custom portrait, provide both the full size portrait and the headshot.
Here�s an example Diplomacy page, showing both the full portrait and head shot:
Your custom full sized portrait will be displayed in a picture frame, as shown below. If your image doesn't fill the frame, we'll provide a dark matte. We haven't determined what the actual frame will look like yet.
Your portrait and headshot should be either the maximum length or width (or both, if you wish).
For each race and alliance emblem, provide both a large and small version.
The large race emblem is used throughout the Notebook. The small emblem appears wherever objects associated with your race or alliance are displayed (the map, reports, and in many Notebook lists). The large alliance emblem is used in the Diplomacy page, as shown above.

Your emblem should be either the maximum length or width (or both). The total area of your image, including background should be the maximum length or width.
Unless your large emblem is very simple, it may not look good after simply shrinking it. You may have to further modify the shrunken image to increase its clarity or create a small emblem from scratch.
